They are available in both center lock and 6-bolt options, in sizes from 160 mm to 223 mm, and in 1.8 mm and 2 mm thicknesses. Coleman tested the 223 mm and 203 mm versions with 2 mm thickness. The retail price for a 223 mm rotor is \u20ac50, while the 203 mm version is priced at \u20ac42.09 \u2013 comparable to most standard one-piece OEM rotors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"536\" src=\"https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-17-1024x536.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-17-1024x536.png 1024w, https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-17-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-17-768x402.png 768w, https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-17-600x314.png 600w, https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-17.png 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>All Galfer rotors are made from high-quality 420 stainless steel with high carbon content. They are laser-cut, double disc-parallel ground for flatness, and heat-treated for specific applications. Galfer claims that laser cutting instead of stamping reduces internal stress during production, making rotors more resistant to warping under heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GALFER SHARK ROTORS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first thing you&#8217;ll notice with Shark rotors is the price. Like the Wave rotors, they are made from high-quality carbon-rich stainless steel, laser-cut, ground, and heat-treated. However, they are significantly more expensive \u2013 \u20ac108.58 for the 223 mm and \u20ac102.48 for the 203 mm version, more than double the cost of the Wave or OEM rotors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"536\" src=\"https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-18-1024x536.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-18-1024x536.png 1024w, https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-18-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-18-768x402.png 768w, https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-18-600x314.png 600w, https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-18.png 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The higher price may be justified by the complex pattern of smaller holes, which increase the surface area and improve heat dissipation. These finer details likely add machine time, raising production costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GALFER PRO PADS \u2013 High-Performance Racing Compound<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coleman tested the Galfer Pro pads on <strong>Hayes Dominion A4<\/strong> brakes mounted on his <strong>Norco Range<\/strong>, although he also used the rotors with Hope Tech4 V4 and SRAM Code RSC. The Pro pads were only tested with the Dominions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Galfer describes the Pro compound as one of its most aggressive, designed for racing and offering:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Exceptional braking power<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Resistance to contamination<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>High heat resistance (fade-resistant)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to their aggressive nature, Pro pads may wear faster than Galfer&#8217;s less aggressive Standard compound\u2014especially under heavy use. Retail price: \u20ac29.10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TESTING GALFER WAVE &amp; SHARK ROTORS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wave Rotors:<\/strong><br>Coleman tested Wave rotors on <strong>Hayes Dominion, SRAM Code RSC,<\/strong> and <strong>Hope Tech V4<\/strong> brakes. Performance was consistent, with no warping even under high temperatures. They\u2019re solid performers but not particularly remarkable or disappointing\u2014comparable to OEM rotors. While he didn\u2019t test them in extreme mud, he expects their design would help shed debris better than most OEM options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shark Rotors:<\/strong><br>Shark rotors made a much stronger impression. They delivered noticeably better bite than standard rotors\u2014without being grabby\u2014and provided significantly higher braking torque at the same lever force. They also look fantastic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"536\" src=\"https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-19-1024x536.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7514\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-19-1024x536.png 1024w, https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-19-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-19-768x402.png 768w, https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-19-600x314.png 600w, https:\/\/vetta.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Untitled-1200-x-628-px-19.png 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Shark\u2019s heat management was outstanding, delivering consistent braking performance even on long, steep descents\u2014where brake fade typically occurs. Compared to OEM and Wave, the <strong>Shark rotors clearly outperformed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TESTING COMBINATION: GALFER PRO PADS + SHARK ROTORS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using the <strong>Galfer Pro Pads with Shark rotors<\/strong> on <strong>Hayes Dominion A4<\/strong> brakes resulted in excellent performance. The Pro Pads were significantly more aggressive than Dominion\u2019s stock metallic pads (which resemble most OEM pads). Braking was aggressive yet linear, with <strong>huge power that remained easy to modulate<\/strong>. Performance was consistent in both hot and cold conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was some initial noise in wet conditions until the rotors warmed up\u2014typical for high-performance metallic pads. While more expensive than OEM, Coleman likens them to race car brakes: <strong>maximum performance with some trade-offs like initial noise at low temperatures<\/strong>.
